Viaggio was opened for business in July of 1998 by its partners Thomas DiLoreto and Brett Rosselli. The restaurant features an elegant menu of fine Italian cuisine interpreted by the owners and their staff of chefs . The selection on the menu includes numerous pasta dishes as well as meat, chicken and seafood dishes. There is also an extensive selection of appetizers including a varying array of gourmet pizzas. The menu is finished off with a tempting variety of desserts. All of the pasta that is served is made on site using the finest ingredients obtainable. The wine list is extensive and offers choices of both well known vintages as well as an eclectic selection of wines from many boutique wineries located throughout California, Washington and Oregon.
The interior of the restaurant was designed by Kathy Leutzinger who worked in close association with the owners to create the ambiance that is matched by few other establishments in the area. The walls of each room are decorated with art work by Joanna Zjawinska. There is an active bar area with plenty of seating as well as a private dining room for special occasions. The Wine and Retail Shop area is also designed so as to allow for seating for large parties. The main dining room looks into the open kitchen area and diners can get a glimpse of what is behind the preparation of their meal.

On Thursday evenings, there is a regularly held wine tasting event beginning at 6:00 PM. The $15.00 charge covers a tasting of at least four different wines, refills of all wines tasted and a generous supply of appetizers prepared from the menu of Viaggio. The store also offers a wine of the month club which introduces its members to a new winery each month and provides its members with a discount for retail purchases made from the Wine and Retail Shop. Depending on the wines, the cost of this program varies from $30-$40 per month including shipping and handling for the delivery of each month’s wine selection directly to the member’s residence.

Within the restaurant itself is a Retail Wine Shop that is open during all hours that the restaurant is open. The shop offers one of the largest and most interesting selections of wine in the Reno area at the most competitive prices anywhere. Besides the many wines that one would expect to find at a top tier wine shop there are an astonishing number of wines from little known, but highly regarded, wineries. The staff of Viaggio is continually visiting wineries throughout the west coast to taste and choose new selections for the enjoyment of their patrons. Any wine that is in the Wine and Retail Shop is available by the glass in the restaurant which, in effect, creates a menu of more than 800 by the glass wines to choose from.
Viaggio is located in the Franktown Corners Shopping Center at 2309 Kietzke Lane in Reno. For more information, call 775-828-2708. Restaurant hours are Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM and Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. All major credit cards are accepted.
