Bartley Ranch Regional Park: The park, located at 6000 Bartley Ranch Road, Reno, features more than two miles of hiking and multi-use trails, a horse arena and the historic one-room Huffaker schoolhouse. The Western Heritage Interpretive Center features traveling exhibits and other cultural programs and displays. The park, a former ranch with lots of open space, also has historic farm equipment. Bowers Mansion Park: The restored mansion of L.S. "Sandy" Bowers, built from the riches of his Comstock-era mine in Gold Hill, is in Washoe County's Bowers Mansion Park, 4005 U.S. Highway 395 South, Washoe Valley. Brewery Arts Center: The arts center, 449 W. King Street, Carson City, offers an art gallery, shows and classes. The Artisans' Store sells work by northern Nevada artists. Children's classes are from 3:30-5pm, with magic, photography, drama and pottery on Tuesdays; watercolor and pottery on Wednesdays; pottery and drawing for teens on Thursdays. Adult classes include drawing on Mondays; magic and pottery on Tuesdays; portraiture, photography and pottery on Wednesdays; watercolor, drawing and pottery on Thursdays; drawing and portraiture on Saturdays. Cribbage Club: Come play Cribbage for free!! The City of Reno and Washoe Senior Options have joined forces to bring the seniors of our community quality programs for little or no cost. For more information call 775-982-5400. This is held the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 2-4pm at Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center.

Davis Creek Park: The park, U.S. Highway 395 South, Washoe Valley, has more than 50 individual picnic sites and a large group picnic area that accommodates up to 100 people. There are marked nature trails and 63 overnight campsites (no RV hookups). The natural ice skating pond opens in late December. Donner Memorial State Park & Emigrant Trail Museum: The park is off Interstate 80 near Truckee on Donner Lake and has a museum and a bronze monument dedicated to the Donner Party Expedition of 1846-47. The hours are 10am to 4pm. Ticket prices are $2 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6. Swimming, pedal-boat and inner tube rentals, beach volley ball, barbecue and picnic areas with public restrooms are all welcome activities. For more information call 530-582-7892.

Fleischmann Planetarium & Reno National Bowling Stadium: Surround yourselves with domed screens as your party watches the star show Clouds of Fire or The Living Sea at the Fleischmann Planetarium, 1650 N. Galena Creek Park: The 440-acre park, 18350 Mount Rose Highway, seven miles up the Mount Rose Highway on the west side, is nestled in a forest area with Galena Creek flowing through. The park is for day-use only and features hiking, self-guided nature trails, picnic areas and a group picnic facility. For more information call 775-849-2511.

High Country Soaring: One-passenger rides are offered over Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe with "Top Gun" type aerobatic rides. Hours are 9 am to sunset. Cost is $100. For details call 775-782-4944.

High Sierra Stables: Guided trail rides on the ridges and valleys of northeast Reno, with scenic views of Reno, Sparks, Peavine Mountain and the Lemmon, Hungry and Antelope valleys. Cost: $22 per hour for horseback rides; hay and sleigh rides go for $250 for the first hour. Hornblower Cruises Lake Tahoe: Daily two-hour cruises of Emerald Bay leave at 12:30pm. Tours feature views of mountains, the glacier-carved Emerald Bay, Vikingsholm Castle and Eagle Falls. Cruise-goers also can see underwater viewing from the boat's glass bottom. The cruises are on South Lake Tahoe, at the foot of Ski Run Boulevard at the Marina Village. Ticket prices for day cruises are $18 for adults, $8 for children ages 4-12; Earlybird cruise, those 12 and younger are free. Idlewild Park: The 49-acre park, 1900 Idlewild Drive, Reno, along the Truckee River features the Reno Lions Club Kiddie Park, softball fields, volleyball courts, large play area, picnic tables, barbecues and a group picnic area. The park is part of the Truckee River trail, which stretches for seven miles through downtown Reno into Sparks. Also home of the City of Reno Municipal Rose Garden, containing 2,400 rose plants representing some 560 different varieties. Peak rose blooming occurs in mid-June through late August.

Lakeridge Tennis Club - Teen Fitness for Boys: This is an ongoing class held at Lakeridge Tennis Club for boys 13-18 years old and emphasizes safe and effective training techniques. The Lakeridge Tennis Club is located at 6000 Plumas in Reno. For more information call 775-827-3300.

Lakeridge Tennis Club - Tennis Drills & Power: Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 11am at the Lakeridge Tennis Club. The classes are designed to improve all aspects of one's tennis game. Northstar-At-Tahoe Snowmobiling Tours: Tours start from Northstar's base village and include a climb of 2,000 feet. Snowmobiling clothing available for rent. All tours include a helmet. Machine operators must be 16 or older. Those 18 and younger must have written parental consent. Northstar-At-Tahoe is located off Highway 267 Truckee, California. Tour times are 10:30am and 1:30pm, weather permitting. Cost is $85 for one rider and $105 for two riders (300 pound weight limit) for the 10:30am and 1:30pm rides; $65 for one rider and $85 for two riders for the 4:30pm ride. Oxbow Nature Study Area: The park is on the Truckee River at the end of Dickerson Road, has two miles of boardwalks and trails with interpretive reader-board displays that explain the park's flora and fauna. For more information call 775-334-3808.

Quilting Bees for Seniors: Both the Sunshine Girls and the Paperdoll Quilters are an extension of the Truckee Meadows Quilters. If you love quilting or would like to learn some techniques, bring your project, sewing machine, and come join us. The Sunshine Quilters is held every 3rd Friday of each month. Paperdoll Quilters is held every 4th Thursday of each month. The hours are from 10am to 2pm at Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center. The cost is free. Rafting River Adventures and More: Half-day, full-day and two-day raft trips, seven days a week on the Truckee, Carson and American rivers. All ages and skill levels. Reading Group for Seniors: The Senior Division has formed a partnership with Barnes and Noble Booksellers to offer a book club for Seniors. Barnes and Noble Staff will lead the group. Reno Senior Travelers: The City of Reno is proud to introduce the Reno Senior Travelers. Short and long trips will be planned throughout the year with a minimal fee for transportation. Resistance Exercise Class: This is a weight training program designed to strengthen the muscles used for walking and getting out of a chair are performed standing holding a chair for Seniors. Rocksport: The indoor rock-climbing center is open daily. Children's climb times are 10am to 1pm Saturday and Sunday. Youth night, for children 10-18, is from 6-10pm Friday and $10 covers all costs. Women's night is from 5-10pm Tuesday, and climbing and rental is $10. Two-for-one night is from 5-10pm Monday, and $20 for two includes equipment. Rocksport is located at 1901 Silverado Blvd., Reno. Hours are 10am to 10pm Monday-Friday, 10am to 8pm Saturday and 10am to 6pm Sunday. The cost is $20 for adults, $15 for kids and students including equipment rental. Sailing Ventures: Learn to sail aboard a cruising yacht at Lake Tahoe. The instructor is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and experienced teacher. Sierra Mountain Guides: Rock climbing lessons will be held at Donner Summit. Half-day and full-day sessions are offered, with equipment and instruction provided. Guided backcountry climbing tours are also offered. All guides are members of the American Mountain Guides Association and are certified in either rock climbing, alpine mountaineering and ski mountaineering. International trips are offered. Silver State Super Seniors: Was formed in 1985 to promote senior physical fitness. Exercises include mild stretching, chair and standing exercises, and balance exercises. A voluntary precision, close-order drill team exercise is held on Fridays. This is held during September through May on Tuesday at Northeast Community Center; Thursday and Friday at Teglia's Paradise Park Activity from 8:30 to 9:30am. The director is Art Broten. Tahoe Keys Yacht Charters : The 52-foot luxury yacht certified for 49 passengers with conference cabins, a bar, kitchen and indoor and outdoor areas is piloted by a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain. Tahoe Sport Fishing: The year-round charter operates six boats on four, five and seven-hour trips at Ski Run Marina. Truckee River Parks: Two parks are part of the Truckee River trail that runs from downtown Reno to the east Truckee River Canyon at Vista Boulevard. Fisherman's Park at 55 Galletti Way has picnic tables, restrooms and fishing holes for fly and bait casters. Rock Park at 1515 Rock Blvd., has picnic tables, barbecues, group picnic area, playground and grass play area.

Zephyr Cove Snowmobile Center: The two-hour guided tours are on a route that climbs to 9,000 feet above sea level, offering panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley and the Sierra. The tours include instruction for first-time riders. The Top of the Top tour offers a more challenging ride for experienced snowmobilers. Clothing rental and free shuttle service to the staging area is available at Zephyr Cove Resort. Located at 760 Highway 50, Zephyr Cove. Tour times are 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm daily.
