Jack Neal studied symphony and opera conducting with Stanley Chapple and baton technique with Walter Welke at the University of Washington in Seattle. He also studied symphony conducting with Izler Solomon, conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, at the Aspen Institute of Music in Aspen, Colorado.

He has conducted musicals, operas and symphonies.

Mr. Neal has been a music, dance, theater critic for over thirty years. His articles have appeared in the Nevada State Journal, Reno Evening Gazette, Reno Gazette-Journal and Opera News, the official publication of New York's Metropolitan Opera. His reviews of musical theater appear periodically in the Reno News and Review. Mr. Neal is the performing arts critic for KUNR-FM, 88.7. His radio program, “Entertainment Headlines", can be heard each Friday evening at 6:30 pm.
